JOHOR BAHRU, 12 October 2016 – The Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Career Centre (UTMCC) in collaboration with the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister Department, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Johor State Government and Khazanah Nasional Berhad has organized 2016 1Malaysia Training Scheme (SL1M) Career Interview for the Southern Zone of Malaysia.
The programme which also received support from the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) was held for two days in PERSADA Johor and ended on October 13, 2016.
The EPU Programme Coordinator, Mohd. Zakaria Idres said the programme that was held for the first time has received overwhelming response from the southern residents of the peninsular, mainly from graduates and job seekers.
“More than 10,000 jobs and training are available at the government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sectors that participated in this programme. Because of this, most of the graduates began to gather at the front door for not passing up the chance to find job opportunities and appropriate training.
“We in JPM urge all parties, especially the private sector to be involved in assisting local graduates to find jobs and improve the economic status of the graduates and their families,” he said.
The companies involved will be given the Double Tax Deduction incentive and the Human Resources Development Savings Scheme SL1M in order to further promote the participation of the companies in helping job seekers and the local graduates.
According to Mohd. Zakaria, companies that provide employment opportunities are also eligible to receive the Iskandar Malaysia Employment Grant (IMEG), a special government incentive by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
“These incentives will pay as much as 50 percent of the monthly salary offered for a period of 6 months for the candidates who meet the eligibility requirements,” he said.
The program was launched by the Director General of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister Department, Datuk Seri Dr. Rahamat Bin Yusoff.
