JOHOR BAHRU, 24 August 2016 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with the National Council of Professors (MPN), Utusan Malaysia and Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has organized an Advocacy Programme called Housing in Malaysia: Affordable to Own or Affordable to look at?
Located at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, the program was organized with its main objective to analyze current issues regarding the present housing ownership in Malaysia and discuss the best methods to deal with the extreme rise in housing prices.
The advocacy programme that entered the eighth series also lined up an expert panel to discuss the matter namely Dr. Suraya Ismail of Khazanah Research Institute, Prof. Datuk Abdul Halim Sidek of the MPN and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Mohd Ali from the Faculty of Geoinformation and Real Estate (FGHT) UTM.
The concept of the programme was having a dialogue and discussion forums moderated by the Kuala Lumpur International Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Durisshah as the moderator and three panelists involved with expertise in their respective fields.
The program was divided into sessions that featured panelists discussing the problems that arise and proposing solutions according to their approach at the first session followed by a question and answer session with the audience in the second round.
Also attending this program was the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato ‘Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Rose Alinda Alias, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Datuk Dr. Ismail Abd. Aziz and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Prof. Datuk Dr. Raduan Che Rose.
