Kuala Lumpur, 6 March 2016 – The Engineering Department of UTM Razak School organized a lecture titled ‘Kick-Starting Scientists and Engineers Entrepreneurship Skills’ on 6th March 2016. The talk was delivered by Mr Ko Chuan Zhen, Executive Director of +SOLAR, and was held at Dewan Seminar, Level 1 of Menara Razak.
The objective of the talk was to provide insights into SMEs, as well as the know-how and challenges faced by SMEs. Mr. Ko explored the issues through the example of his 2 companies, namely, Plus Solar Systems Sdn Bhd and Leaf Energy Sdn Bhd. In Malaysia, SMEs are established quickly in a drastic and fast ratio. However, many SMEs flounder or go bankrupt. Thus, sustainability is very important and extremely crucial for the success of any SMEs.
Mr. Ko is a firm believer in education paving the way for students to explore various topics. A product of the science stream education, Mr Ko believes that many students select the courses they are currently in just because they are good in mathematics or other science related subjects like physics. Mr. Ko admitted that he was quite lost in what career to pursue until he built on his knowledge in the potential of solar energy.
UTM Razak School students from its Masters of Systems Engineering program particpated in the talk.
The lecturer who organized this event was Dr. Sathiabama T.Thirugnana, a senior lecturer of UTM Razak School and actively supported by her colleagues Dr. Siti Azura, Pn. Siti Armiza and Pn. Haslaile.
