JOHOR BAHRU, 14 December 2016 – The delegation of 54 members of staff of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) led by its Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi visited Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Accompanying the UNIMAS Vice Chancellor were Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and International, Prof. Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr Kopli Bujang, 12 deans, 15 directors and management and professional staff.
They were greeted by the UTM Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Ir Dr Wahid Omar, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, Senior Director of UTM International, Prof. Dr. Nordin Yahaya, Director of Strategy Management, Prof. Dr. Shahrin Mohammad, Acting Director of Research Management Centre (RMC), Prof. Dr. Mazlan Ahmad, Chief Librarian, Dr. Kamariah Noor Mohd Desa and Registrar, Wan Mohd Zawawi Wan Abdul Rahman at the Chancellery Building Sultan Ibrahim (BCSI).
Prof. Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim said the visit was part of the Dean’s Council ‘Sumbang Saran’ programme held at Desaru, Bandar Penawar for four days beginning yesterday.
In addition, they also paid a visit to the Office of the Chief Minister of Johor in Kota Iskandar to keep up with the current development state of Johor especially in the area of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
“The purpose of their visit to UTM Johor Bahru was to learn how we move fast and achieved a good position in the QS World Ranking,” said Prof. Wahid in his welcoming speech.
Meanwhile, in a briefing session held at the Banquet Hall, Prof. Datuk Dr Wahid briefed on the development of the campus and the UTM Global Plan for 2012-2020 followed by achievements in research by Prof. Dr Ahmad Fauzi and QS World Ranking by Prof. Dr Nordin.
After that, the group were taken to the Institute of Bioproducts Development (IBD) while Prof. Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim and Prof. Dr Mohd Fadzil visited the Faculty of Science.
