UTM and VTC – i2M Ventures for Oracle Professional Certification

JOHOR BAHRU, 4 April 2016 – A brief industrial engagement between Faculty of Computing Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with two Information Technology consultants, Vision Technology Consulting (VTC) Sdn. Bhd. and i2M Ventures Sdn. Bhd was conducted at the Johor Bahru campus.

The engagement is a part of activities stated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UTM and both of these Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies presented on April 16, 2016, during a ceremony that witnessed by Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister for International Trade and Industry (MITI), along his Deputy, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The programme was aimed to provide high-skilled human capital in the Information Technology sector around Johor Bahru. The VTC will responsible to provide Oracle SOA Suite 11g Essentials 1Z0-478 Training and Certification to a number of 50 final year students in Faculty of Computing, to prepare them with higher employability.

The engagement was started with the arrival of the founder and managing director of VTC, Mr. Tee Chee Chiang along with his CEO and Executive Director, Mr. Chan Wai Hoong, celebrated by the students of Faculty of Computing.

After a short introduction and presentation by VTC, an engagement session was conducted among the students along a group of technical staff of VTC. The engagement was targeted to address potential among students and to identify the readiness of the students for undergoing the program.

In the afternoon, the delegation was invited for a short discussion, in which the direction of the linkage between UTM Faculty of Computing and VTC is planned for the next three years.

This included the implementation of the professional certification program to the newly introduced Bachelor of Computer Science (Database System) which will be conducted starting this upcoming batch of September 2016.

The new bachelor degree program will be based on the new 2U2I (two years in university and two years in industry) model that requires strong support from the industry players.
