KOTA TINGGI, 6 December 2014 – Office of the Registrar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) organised its Community Service Programme at Kampung Desa Makhota, Kota Tinggi, Johor.
The two-day programme was led by the Security Division, Office of the Registrar with UTM Director of Security, Halim Adam acting as the Programme Coordinator.
Assistant Programme Coordinator, Roselaile Samah said that activities carried out during the programme included Ferro Cement technology transfer and pastry cooking classes in collaboration with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Education.
“Besides knowledge sharing and transfer activities, other community programmes such as gotong-royong in cleaning the mosque and religious school, and religious talks, were also conducted to provide more value added services to the local community.”
“Apart from UTM staff from the Registrar’s Office, students from the Perdana residental collage also actively contributed to the community programme, namely, by conducting educational workshops,” he said.
The Kampung Desa Makhota community was appreciative of the programme, particularly in the technology transfer sessions and educational workshops.
Besides the community from Kampung Desa Mahkota, neighbouring communities, namely, from Felda Bukit Besar, Felda Bukit Ramón, Felda Sungai Sayong and Felda Pasir Raja, totaling more than 230 people, also participated in the programme.
This programme was officially closed by the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Pasir Raja, Datuk Dr. Adham Baba on 6 December 2014.
