Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continues to take pride in the achievements of its alumni who are making a difference in various fields. One example is the Academic Force Organization, a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in 2005 by Mr. Dineshkumar S. Haridas, a UTM graduate in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (B.Tech.Edu, 2004–2008). The organisation promotes academic excellence, leadership, and co-curricular involvement, with the aim of building a society made up of capable, responsible, and high-achieving individuals.
Academic Force is supported by a team of 30 active members, many of whom are also UTM alumni. One of its main initiatives is the Annual Academic Force Awards Presentation, an event that recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of education, leadership, and community service. Over the years, the organisation has honoured many respected Malaysians, including recipients of national titles such as Tan Sri and Dato’ Sri, for their success and positive influence on the younger generation.
At this year’s event, the Inspiring Leadership Award 2025 was presented to Ir. Anilarasu Amaranazan, Group Managing Director of Aspen Group. He is a UTM graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the construction and property development industry. Since joining Aspen Group in 2015, he has led major projects like Aspen Vision City and expanded the company’s reach into other areas such as healthcare and food and beverage. His leadership and dedication have played a key role in the company’s growth and success.
The award ceremony was also attended by two respected UTM academicians: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suresh Ramakrishnan, Head of Global Rankings Division, Office of Strategy and Global Prominence Office, and Assoc. Prof. Kumaraguru Ramayah, a Japanese language educator from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. Their presence added academic value to the event and showed UTM’s continued support for excellence in education and leadership.
This event highlights the important role UTM alumni play in shaping industries, communities, and the future. It also reflects the university’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also ready to lead and give back to society.
