Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Persona Energy Sdn. Bhd. (Persona Energy) have collaborated to launch the Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Programme Xcelerator (TTAP Xcelerator). Through TTAP Xcelerator, designed to nurture engineering talents in the automotive and motorsport sectors, participants will acquire micro-credentials to expedite their engineering careers, aligning perfectly with UTM’s Envision 2025 plan. The official inauguration of this partnership occurred during the MoU signing ceremony on April 29, 2024. The event was graced by Persona Energy’s Executive Director and renowned Malaysian International Racing Driver, Jazeman Jaafar, alongside UTM’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, signaling the commencement of an exciting venture.
Conceived in 2021 by the Automotive Development Center (ADC) and the Institute for Vehicle Systems and Engineering (IVeSE) at UTM, in collaboration with Persona Energy, the program aimed to facilitate knowledge exchange between scholars and students through a human capital development initiative. This initiative focuses on skill enhancement in the automotive and local motorsport sectors, now realized through the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
As part of the TTAP Xcelerator program, three exceptional undergraduate students from UTM’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering have been chosen to compete in the prestigious Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2024 races. Nur Sadia Shakira binti Mohammad Hassan Ali Abdullah, Yeoh Sze Yun, and Ng Hou Mun will gain invaluable hands-on experience alongside industry professionals at races in Thailand (June 2024), Malaysia (August 2024), and China (September 2024).
