FSSH Sharing the Joy of Ramadan through Bubur Lambuk Drive-thru Program

Skudai – On March 26, 2024, which coincided with the 15th day of Ramadan, the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities (FSSH) organized a “Bubur Lambuk Drive-thru” program. This event was led by the Language Academy Social and Welfare committee (LA SoWel). The annual program is a significant part of FSSH’s Ramadan calendar, aiming to celebrate and embrace the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan by encouraging everyone to engage in good deeds, such as preparing and donating food.

Bubur Lambuk has always been synonymous with the holy month of Ramadan in Malaysia. This act of sharing and giving back to the community is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and promotes the spirit of unity, empathy, and compassion. During Ramadan, mosques and Islamic organizations across Malaysia organize Bubur Lambuk distributions to break their fast (iftar) and share the meal with others.

Throughout the day, staff members from all schools under FSSH closely collaborated, working together in different stages to prepare porridge. They started early in the morning and continued until the afternoon to ensure the successful completion of tasks related to preparing ingredients, the cooking process, packing, and delegating the bubur lambuk. Their collective effort resulted in the distribution of 500 containers of bubur lambuk among all the staff under FSSH, including the Language Academy (LA), School of Education (SOE), School of Human Resource Development & Psychology (SHARPS), Academy of Islamic Civilisation (ATI), as well as the Security Department.

The program has two key objectives. Firstly, it aims to encourage staff members to participate in preparing and distributing bubur lambuk, promoting good deeds, teamwork, and community spirit, particularly during the month of Ramadan, when Muslims are encouraged to increase their charitable actions. Secondly, it aims to strengthen the bond among staff members from different schools who are now part of the FSSH organization. This is especially important due to the large number of staff members working together under this entity.

By organizing this event annually, FSSH aims to build a close rapport among its staff members, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. This event serves as a platform for everyone to demonstrate the spirit of giving and compassion, which are deeply embedded in our culture. It is hoped that such events will continue to take place in the future, allowing the FSSH staff to grow closer and work more effectively as a family. Salam Ramadan Kareem!
