In conjunction with United Nations World Water Day on 22 Mac 2021, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) through its Centre of Community and Industry Network (CCIN) had successfully organized ‘Gotong-Royong Sahabat Sungai Bunus’ program on 6 April 2021.

The program was part and parcel of a collaboration program by UTM CCIN with its community partners including Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Department of Environment (DOE) and SW Corp Malaysia, under the River of Life project, Local Agenda 21 Kuala Lumpur (LA21KL).

The main objective of the program was to instil awareness and encourage people to preserve the river so that it will always clean and beautiful. The people also can play their part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

As a Research Centre that focuses on sustainability, UTM Ocean Thermal Energy Centre (UTM OTEC) was committed to the preservation of the environment. Mr. Abdul Shukur Mohamad was assigned to participate in the program on behalf of the centre. In total, around 50 participants joined the program including staff from DOE and SW Corp.

The program was started with an aerobic and warm-up session conducted by UTM Sports Unit and followed by a routes and activities brief. The program had successfully completed and upon completion, each participant of the program was given a certificate as appreciation.
