25 International Universities joined UTM SAF 2017   

JOHOR BAHRU, 14 February 2017 – As much as 41 delegates and 25 universities from 14 countries around the globe have attended the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Study Abroad Fair (SAF) 2017.

The fair that held at the Banquet Hall was launched by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internationalization), Prof. Dr. Zainuddin Abdul Manan received overwhelming responses from 1,000 UTM students who registered online.

Director (Global Education) of UTM International, Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin said the two-day programme was set to increase the awareness among UTM students towards international mobility programmes offered by its global educational partner.

“UTM SAF 2017 is an event organized by us for all UTM students which consists undergraduates, postgraduates, locals and internationals who are interested to study abroad through student exchange programme, research internship and summer school.

“Students can interact directly with the participating institutions to gain first hand information on the respective mobility programme, including but not limited to questions on credits, classes, costs, scholarships, and application deadlines,” said. Prof. Nor Haniza.

UTM student volunteers/buddies were also available during the two-day fair to share their Study Abroad experience. This high impact programme was in line with Malaysia Government’s Higher Education Development Plan and UTM’s commitment towards achieving excellent Global Reputation.

“As for the organizer of SAF 2017, we hope to encourage more UTM students to study abroad and become a competitive global citizen,” said. Prof. Nor Haniza.

The participating universities were Deakin University (Australia), INNES Institute Vienna (Austria), Polytechnique de Montréal (Canada), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (China), Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), ISAE-ENSMA (France), Mines Albi – Institut Mines Télécom (France), Pforzheim University (Germany).

Also attending SAF 2017 were Universitas Kristen Maranatha (Indonesia), Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (Indonesia), Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan), Tohoku University (Japan), University of Tsukuba (Japan), Yamaguchi University (Japan), Far Eastern University (Philippines), Kumoh National Institute of Technology (South Korea), Woosong University (South Korea), ESADE Business and Law School (Spain), Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (Spain), University of Vigo (Spain), Mahasarakham University (Thailand), Nottingham Trent University (United Kingdom), University College London (United Kingdom), University of Kent (United Kingdom) and University of Sheffield (United Kingdom).
