KUALA LUMPUR, 16 December 2014 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) researcher and academician from the Advanced Membrane Technology Research Center (AMTEC), Dr Lau Woei Jye has received the Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government.
Dr Lau received his certificate of Fellowship from the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Rod Smith during a ceremony held at Doubletree Hilton, Kuala Lumpur on 16 December 2014.
The Endeavour Research Fellowship provides financial support for non-Australian postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term research (4-6 months) towards a non-Australian Masters, PhD or postdoctoral research in any field in Australia.
This fellowship also allows Australian postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake short-term research (4-6 months) towards an Australian Masters, PhD or postdoctoral research, in any field, overseas.
Among the incentives given are AUD3, 000.00 for flight ticket (return), AUD 2,000.00 for accommodation and AUD 3,000.00 per month for daily expenses.
Dr. Lau will begin his Fellowship studies for four months starting from 1st August 2015 to 30 November 2015 and will be attached at Victoria University, Melbourne. During his stay there, Dr. Lau will conduct a research on the utilization of membrane in water filtration.
