JOHOR BAHRU, 15 December 2014 – A strategic collaboration has been forged between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Galaxy Aviation Services (M) Sdn. Bhd. which will enable a more strategic alliance in Malaysia aerospace and defense industry.
The memorandum was signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim on behalf of UTM while Galaxy Aviation (M) Sdn. Bhd was represented by Datuk Johari Harun.
The collaboration was intended to further enhance Research and Development (R&D), training and human capital resources, for the continuous development of Malaysia aerospace industry and national defense.
Among the collaboration scope agreed by both parties include conducting Research and Development activities related to the development of aerospace industries for defense purposes and also increasing the number of professionals in this field.
Activities and cooperation between the two parties will also cover various related aspects such as consultation, research and development and training.
Galaxy Aviation is a subsidiary of Gading Sari Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and also an associate in the Gading business group that operates Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport in Subang.
The company is led by former Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) pilots who are experienced in the field of air defense and national defense.
Gading Group through it strategic partner Mycopter Aviation Sdn Bhd is also responsible in conductingf Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) jobs which is licensed under the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
It is hoped that through this partnership, both parties can share their skills and expertise in order to meet the ongoing needs of the country’s defense industry.
