Prof Dr Omar Bin Yaakob of UTM Marine Technology Centre was one of the five keynote speakers invited by the organisers of the International Marine and offshore Engineering Conference and Exhibition” (IMOC 2014) held on the 3rd and 4th of September 2014.

IMOC 2014 which was held in Al-Jubail Saudi Arabia, is an international conference and exhibition in Marine & Offshore Engineering, organised by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (League of Arab States), in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport – Saudi Arabia and Saudi Ports Authority.

Prof Omar spoke on the topic ‘Sustainable Use of the Ocean: The Role of Marine Technologists’. In his keynote address, he highlighted sustainable issues, including the latest development in the international policy framework as well as technological advancement furthering the sustainable ocean development goals.

The conference was attended by more than 300 participants from around the middle east and officiated by Jabara bin Eid al-Suraiseri the Saudi Minister of Transport. The Egyptian Minister of Transport Engineer Hani Dahi was also present.
