UTM FKT-Linked 2024: Bridging Academia and Industry for Innovative Solutions

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 22 – The Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FKT) proudly organized ‘UTM FKT-Linked 2024’ carnival, on 20th October 2024. Initiated by FKT’s Research, Innovation, and Development Unit, this event was aligned with the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) EnVision 2025 Strategic Plan, showcasing cutting-edge research and innovation to industry leaders.

UTM FKT-Linked 2024 offered an exclusive platform for industries, organizations, and agencies to explore cutting-edge state-of-the-art laboratories and engage with diverse multidisciplinary research groups. The event highlighted the unique opportunities for collaborations with our centers of excellence, opening doors to future partnerships that drive impactful innovation.

Under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Mazura Jusoh and her dedicated committee, the event upheld the motto ‘Bridging Industry and Academia’ through a dynamic program that included Exhibitions, Career Talk, memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange, Industrial Pitching between the academia and the industry, and Plenary Sessions featuring the General Manager of our Diamond and Gold sponsors, PETRONAS and ExxonMobil. Participants were also thrilled to be presented with Ener-Comp’24, which involved school students around Johor to showcase their innovation in energy generation, further foster their engagement towards science and technology. Industry representatives had a unique opportunity to visit our laboratories, gain firsthand insight into the research conducted, and explore the range of services we offer to meet their needs.

With the generous support of sponsors from PETRONAS, ExxonMobil, MISE Energy, Green Gas, Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC), EnQuest and Polygon Synergy Venture, UTM FKT-Linked 2024 stood as a symbol of synergy between academia and industry, paving new avenues for research, consultation, and impactful collaboration.

Aligned with UTM’s tagline, ‘Innovating Solutions,’ this event transcended traditional collaboration, embodying the quadruple helix model that integrates academia, industry, government, and civil society to drive meaningful and inclusive innovation.

UTM FKT-Linked 2024 represented a pivotal moment in fostering collaboration between academia and industry. With more than 1,000 participants and visitors at this carnival, we looked forward to drive impactful change and create solutions that benefit society.
