Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) inked MoU with UTM

Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further collaborate on various joint academic and research projects. The MoU signing ceremony took place on the 5th of July 2024 at Grha Kartini, UKSW Kartini Campus, Salatiga, Indonesia.

UTM was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail, while UKSW was represented by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Intiyas Utami, S.E., M.Si., Ak. The MoU was officially witnessed by Prof. Dr. Noraffandy Yahaya, Chair of the School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), UTM, and Prof. Yafet Yosafat Wilben Rissy, S.H., M.Si., LLM., Ph.D (AFHEA), Vice Rector for Partnership and Alumni Affairs, UKSW.

UKSW and UTM have been working together since 2019 through various educational conferences. Joint conferences and indexed publications are some of the outcomes of the collaboration. In 2019, Dr. Hanna Arini Parhusip from UKSW visited UTM as a Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, UTM. Later, a Letter of Cooperation (LoC) was signed in 2021 between the two universities to formalize the collaboration. In 2023, delegates from UKSW visited the Faculty of Computing, UTM, for research collaboration and joint publications in indexed journals. The collaboration between UTM and UKSW spans different faculties and disciplines.

As the 2-year duration of the LoC comes to an end, this MoU signifies a continuous commitment between the two universities towards more robust collaboration. In today’s partnership discussion, both universities agreed to venture into more student and staff exchange programs, joint publications, satellite labs, external supervisions, and other special projects involving various faculties in UTM and UKSW, as well as industries in Indonesia.

Attending the MoU signing ceremony from UTM were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahani Mokhtar, Director of Education Foundation and Social Sciences, School of Education, FSSH, UTM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aede Hatib Musta’amal @ Jamal, Director of Technical and Engineering Education, School of Education, FSSH, UTM, and Prof. Dr. Fatin Aliah Phang.

All four Vice Rectors, 14 Deans, and three Directors from UKSW also attended the MoU signing ceremony and partnership discussion. After the discussion, all delegates were given a tour of the two campuses of UKSW. This was followed by a lunch hosted by UKSW featuring local cuisines before the UTM delegates departed for Yogyakarta and Malang for other official events.
