JOHOR BAHRU, 31 Jan. – The satellite office of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Negeri Malang (UM) was successfully launched at the Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (ISI-SIR) today.

The launching ceremony was completed by UTM Vice Chancellor Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail and Rector of Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Prof. Dr Hariyono, accompanied by ISI-SIR Director, Assoc. Prof. ChM.Ts. Dr. Nik Ahmad Nizam Nik Malek.

Prof. Fauzi said that the office would serve as a hub for visiting professors and strengthens the existing collaboration between the two universities that began in 2016 and was formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing in 2021.

“The satellite office marked the achievement of the collaboration between UM and UTM as on September 9th, 2022, the satellite office of UTM was officially launched at Universitas Negeri Malang.

“This mutually beneficial collaboration enhanced the research and education offerings at both universities and provided opportunities for staff and students to collaborate and exchange ideas,” said Prof. Fauzi after the launching ceremony.

The launching ceremony was also attended by a delegation of eight members from Universitas Negeri Malang Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences led by the Dean of Faculty, Prof. Dr Hadi Suwono.

The delegation had the opportunity to meet with their counterparts at UTM and discuss ways to further strengthen the collaboration between the two universities.

The launch of the satellite office signifies a significant step forward for both universities in terms of research and educational collaborations, and it will continue to benefit both institutions in the future.
