School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in collaboration with Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA), Indonesia, had successfully organized a joint conference, the International Forum on Integrated Infrastructure Development (InFInID 2021).
This conference with the theme “Engineering Beyond Borders!” was conducted virtually via Zoom Webinars from 21 until 22 September 2021. The conference was also broadcast via Facebook Live and Youtube Live through UTM Faculty of Engineering’s account, which was viewed by two hundred and eight viewers on the first day of the conference alone.
This conference combined the 12th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering in Tropical Regions (GEOTROPIKA), the 2nd International Conference on Highway and Transportation Engineering (ICHiTRA), and the 4th International Conference on Delta and Coastal Areas (ICCDA). It was an effort to establish a pivotal academic connection between geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, and coastal engineering at the international level.
The first keynote speech was delivered by the Minister of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono, titled “A Comprehensive Solution to Overcome Floods in Central Java and Semarang”. In his speech, he emphasized that this pivotal infrastructure development programme (ongoing 2020-2025), is one of the priorities under the ruling of President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.
An additional four keynote speakers and nine technical talks from speakers from around the world had also participated in this conference. Among additional speakers were the representatives from TETO Engineering Sdn. Bhd. , Senai-Desaru Expressway Berhad (SDEB), and Jurutera Minsar Sdn. Bhd.
Ninety-two research papers on geotechnical engineering, highway and transportation engineering, and coastal engineering, were presented throughout this conference series with one-hundred and twenty-three participants from across the globe.
