JOHOR BAHRU, 17 February 2014– Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has discovered a way in multiplying our natural learning ability and to harness the potentials of the conscious and the subconscious mind by using brain wave stimulation technique.

Prof. Dr. –Ing. Eko Supriyanto from the Faculty of Biosciences and Medical Engineering said, by modulating specific audio tones, the brain waves can be induced into calmness and triggers a state called “whole brain functioning”.

“Activating the whole brain simultaneously increases the receptiveness of information, and assists the student’s mind to be “sponge-like” in absorbing information from learning materials.

“The research involves all levels of students from primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary education,” said Prof. Eko at a press conference held at IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre in UTM, today.

Prof. Eko who led the research cited, the conventional learning techniques that involve memorization, concentration and self-discipline has been scientifically proven as not efficiently utilizing the entire potentials of the natural mind.

Furthermore he said, students are easily exposed to stress and fatigue from busy school activities. All these problems can be solved by stimulating the brain waves to achieve concentration and mental clarity while in the state of being calm and alert.

“The brain wave stimulation technique to enhance learning ability is the result of eight years of research and collaboration between UTM and a local mind technology firm, MinDec Research Sdn Bhd.

“As an outcome from the joint venture, a new learning methodology that combines neurological, psychological and cognitive science has been carefully structured and formulated in a package containing an innovative audio technology that can be easily used by students of all levels. This innovation is known as Teknologi Minda Pintar,” he explained.

Teknologi Minda Pintar contains two audio sets called “Alpha” and “Theta”. Both sets feature a relaxing sound of nature, and have a different and distinctive role in stimulating the brain waves activity that triggers ideal learning states.

Teknologi Minda Pintar sessions are structured systematically and divided into three phases of learning, namely the ” pre-learning”, “while-learning” and “post-learning “.

According to Prof. Eko, although the technology to stimulate brain wave activities have long been pioneered in the West, Teknologi Minda Pintar is the first in the world in the context of its formulation of a systematic learning techniques and its capabilities to multiply learning ability to two, three, four or five times higher, depending on the student.

At the same time, the technology promotes holistic benefits within the context of mental, emotional and spiritual development.

According to Prof. Eko, Teknologi Minda Pintar will soon be made available commercially through MinDec Research Sdn. Bhd.’s website at http://www.mindec.com
