JOHOR BAHRU, 1 December – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has successfully grabbed one Gold and two Bronze medals at the International Student Sports Carnival (ISSC) 2013 held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Bangi.
The medals were contributed by the event of Football and Volleyball (Male and Female).
Program Coordinator, Muhamad Hariz Yacob said that UTM faced a greater challenge as the other participants were good at their game.
“We played only two events which were Football and Volleyball. Many of them have participated in sports competition before”.
“But Alhamdulillah, we managed to get medals. Although not many but I think it is better than 2012 where we did not even get one,” he said.
About 17 events were contested such as Netball, Basketball (Male and Female), Badminton, Futtsal, Football, Indoor Rowing (three for males and three for females), Table Tennis, Road Relay (Male and Female) and Volleyball for Male and Female.
The International Student Sports Carnival was mainly organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and jointly with all Public and Private Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTS) registered under the ministry.
The main objective of ISSC was to inculcate healthy & productive integration amongst international students from various ethnic, group and nationalities as well as with the local students of Public and Private Higher Learning Institutions together with the community.
The participation was being managed by the UTM International Student Center (ISC).
