TOKYO, Oct 10 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) participated in the Study in Malaysia Education Fair Japan Autumn 2026, organised by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), to promote its academic programmes and strengthen its engagement with prospective students in Japan. Held across Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo over three consecutive days, the education fair attracted more than 2,300 visitors in total, providing UTM with an opportunity to introduce higher education opportunities in Malaysia to students, parents, and school counsellors.

The fair began on 10 October 2026 at the Hakata International Exhibition Hall & Conference Center in Fukuoka. It continued at Otemon Gakuin Otemae High School (Temmabashi) in Osaka on 11 October, before concluding at AP Tokyo Yaesu in Tokyo on 12 October.

During the exhibitions, UTM representatives engaged with visitors interested in engineering and technology programmes and shared information about the university’s academic offerings. The combined visitor figure covered the exhibitions in all three cities, rather than a separate total for each location.

In addition to the exhibitions, the UTM delegation held a business-to-business (B2B) meeting with the Study Abroad Association Japan. The discussion explored potential collaboration in academic pathways, student mobility, and longer-term educational partnerships.

The meeting formed part of UTM’s efforts to build institutional connections and strengthen opportunities for academic engagement between Malaysia and Japan.

On 14 October 2026, the delegation also met high school teachers from across the Kanto region in a second B2B session. The meeting provided an opportunity to promote the Summer School programme hosted by the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT).

Discussions covered cultural exchange, introductory exposure to engineering, and possible joint school outreach initiatives.

The programme also extended beyond the public-facing fair format, with the B2B discussions and school visit creating additional settings for UTM to present its programmes and explore future engagement with education stakeholders.

The delegation visited Shohei Junior & Senior High School, described in the submitted article as a private coeducational secondary school in Saitama Prefecture.

During the visit, UTM engaged with students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme and introduced the university’s academic environment, research activities, and international undergraduate pathways.

UTM’s participation in the three-city education fair, together with the subsequent meetings and school visit, reflects its continued efforts to promote study opportunities in Malaysia and develop academic links in Japan.

Through MJIIT’s role in connecting Malaysia and Japan in education and technology, UTM aims to support student mobility, cross-cultural engagement, and the development of graduates prepared for an international environment.
