KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 22– The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence (FAI), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), welcomed a delegation from Zhejiang University (ZJU), China, for an official academic visit aimed at strengthening international collaboration in artificial intelligence, research, innovation and higher education.

The programme, held at Menara Razak, UTM Kuala Lumpur, brought together university leaders, researchers, academic staff and students through strategic discussions, AI research showcases, knowledge-sharing sessions and networking activities. The visit provided an excellent platform for both institutions to explore future collaborations in research, student mobility, academic exchange and joint innovation initiatives.

The visit commenced with a management discussion between representatives of ZJU and the FAI, UTM. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI) through collaborative research, joint publications, student and staff mobility and future academic partnerships.

A key highlight of the programme was the Mini AI Showcase and Research Presentation Session, where undergraduate and postgraduate students from both universities presented their research projects and AI innovations. The showcase featured demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies and provided opportunities for students and academics to exchange ideas, discuss research findings and establish future collaborations.

The session also reflected the commitment of both institutions to nurturing young researchers and promoting innovation-driven learning in AI.

The programme continued with a Distinguished Lecture entitled “6G Technologies toward Connected Intelligence“, delivered by Prof. Wang Wei, Vice-Dean of the College of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, ZJU.

Prof. Wang shared valuable insights into the future of sixth-generation (6G) communication technologies, intelligent connected systems and AI-driven communication networks. The lecture attracted enthusiastic participation from UTM academic staff and students, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session that explored future research opportunities in next-generation communication technologies.

As a gesture of appreciation for his valuable contribution and to commemorate the visit, a token of appreciation was presented to Prof. Wang Wei on behalf of ZJU by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roslina Ibrahim, Deputy Dean (Research, Development and Innovation), FAI, UTM. The presentation symbolised the strong friendship and growing academic partnership between the two institutions.

Following the lecture, the ZJU delegation visited STELLAR’26 (International Industrial Design Degree Show), where they explored innovative student projects showcasing interdisciplinary design, creativity, and technological innovation. The exhibition highlighted UTM’s commitment to integrating design thinking with emerging technologies and fostering industry-relevant innovation.

The Zhejiang University delegation visit marked another important milestone in FAI UTM’s international engagement efforts. Through academic exchange, collaborative research discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to developing long-term strategic partnerships in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

FAI UTM looks forward to expanding future collaborations with ZJU through joint research initiatives, student and staff mobility programmes, conferences, and other academic activities that contribute to advancing AI research and innovation at the global level.
