JOHOR BAHRU, Apr 12 – The Knowledge Bank Challenge, proudly organized by the International Student Society (ISS) Yemen, was successfully held at the Banquet Hall, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The intellectually vibrant event brought together students from various cultural backgrounds for a team-based trivia competition that celebrated holistic learning, critical thinking, and international academic collaboration.

 

Aligned with UTM’s vision to produce global-minded and highly adaptable graduates, the program featured five elite competing teams. These participants navigated through three rigorously structured rounds of elimination. To truly challenge the participants, the trivia spanned ten diverse categories: Islamic History, Geography, Science, Arts, Political History, Landmarks, Books & Authors, Characters, Sports, and Football. This comprehensive scope deeply tested both individual expertise and seamless group coordination.

The winning team, demonstrating exceptional synergy and quick-fire decision-making, claimed the championship title after a highly strategic and closely contested finale. The runner-up team, comprising Abdullah Bello, Abdulrahman Sheikh, Younes Oussaf, Ahmad Elsadeg, and Nooh Alfaqeh, also earned widespread praise from the judges and audience alike for their impressive intellectual performance, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Beyond the competition itself, the event served as an essential platform for building bridges among cultures and creating meaningful peer-to-peer learning experiences. Audience members, including esteemed UTM faculty and fellow local and international students, praised the event for its electrifying energy. To further elevate the excitement and foster campus unity, the organizers introduced an interactive “Audience Challenge.” Attendees actively participated by answering bonus trivia questions to accumulate points throughout the event. Those who successfully reached the 1,500-point milestone were rewarded with exclusive merchandise gifts, including custom cups and keychains, while an insightful book was awarded as a grand prize to the ultimate top crowd participant.

In his remarks, event coordinator Mohsen Gharamah, representing ISS-Yemen, shared, “This event reflects our core mission as ISS-Yemen—to create inclusive spaces where students can grow intellectually while celebrating our shared values and diverse backgrounds. Knowledge Bank combines fun with academic depth, and we’re incredibly proud to see how it brought the wider UTM community together.”

The event also aligns with UTM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. It exemplifies how student-led initiatives can support inclusive education and community engagement within a global campus environment.
