BANGI, Apr 9 – The UTM Hunters, represented by Persatuan Kabaddi Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), sent a delegation of 21 players to compete in the Inter-Varsity Kabaddi Tournament “Maaveeran 3.0” 2026. The tournament was held at Dewan Tun Abdullah Mohd Salleh, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Organised by the Perwakilan Mahasiswa India (PMI) in collaboration with Kelab Kabaddi UKM, the event brought together universities from across the country. It aimed to promote kabaddi and provide a platform for student-athletes to showcase their skills. Throughout the tournament, the UTM Hunters delivered an impressive performance, competing against other universities for top honours.
They achieved this through consistent performance, strong teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. The men’s team gave an impressive performance throughout the tournament, showing great teamwork, focus and determination. They worked their way into the finals with consistent effort and strong gameplay, facing every challenge with confidence. In the final match, the team delivered a powerful performance and secured the Men’s Championship title with a well-deserved win. Their journey reflects their hard work and unity, making this victory a proud moment for the entire team.

The women’s team also delivered a commendable performance, finishing in third place under the guidance of their coaches. In the semi-final match, they faced Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in an intense and fast-paced game where the players gave their best effort. Both teams showed strong defence throughout the match, but the UTM Hunters Women were unable to keep up with the final score ending at 25–13. Despite the loss, their overall performance in the tournament was impressive and showed their determination and team spirit. Their achievement is a proud moment for UTM and reflects the team’s hard work and commitment.

The tournament also saw several standout individual performances from UTM players. Navin from UTM SPACE impressed with his sharp raiding skills, earning the Best Raider award. His quick movements and smart decisions made a big difference in crucial moments. Navasarathy from the Faculty of Computing was recognised as the Best Defender, thanks to his strong and consistent defensive efforts throughout the matches. His timing and control helped the team stay steady under pressure. Janahan from the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU) was awarded the Overall Best Player for his excellent all-round performance. His contribution in both attack and defence showed his importance to the team’s success. These achievements highlight the talent and hard work of the players, adding further pride to UTM’s success in the tournament.



The Persatuan Kabaddi UTM expressed pride in the team’s achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to developing more players. UTM’s UIFC also contributed by securing second place in the Football Tournament, helping UTM achieve the overall championship title. UTM emerged as the Overall Champion of Maaveeran 3.0, marking a strong victory on a competitive stage. Their performance throughout the tournament showed their skill, discipline, and teamwork against tough opponents. This victory is more than just a win.
