BATAM, Aug 30 – The Centre for Advanced Composite Materials (CACM) strengthened its academic collaboration with Institut Teknologi Batam (ITEBA) by co-hosting the Workshop on Reputable International Journal Publication and Research Group Strengthening. The two-day program reflected the growing partnership between CACM and ITEBA, marking the seventh such engagement to date.
The journey began on 29 August 2025, with the CACM delegation traveling via ferry from Puteri Harbour International Ferry Terminal to Batam, Riau Islands. The trip itself symbolized more than just geographical movement; it represented the continuing bridge of knowledge and expertise between Johor and Batam. Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by ITEBA representatives, reflecting the hospitality and close professional rapport that has been cultivated over the years. This visit underscored the long-standing ties between CACM and ITEBA, ties which extend beyond formal workshops to encompass mentoring, academic exchanges, and shared research initiatives. Each encounter has added new depth to their collaboration, ensuring that the relationship continues to evolve dynamically through sustained joint academic activities.

On 30 August 2025, the workshop commenced with a keynote session by CACM Director Prof. Dr. Mohd Yazid Yahya, alongside Dr. Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Rizal and Dr. Ts. Ahmad Ilyas Rushdan. The event focused on advancing research skills, particularly in publishing with reputable international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Participants, including ITEBA lecturers, engaged actively in the sessions, demonstrating noticeable improvement in publication readiness compared to previous years. This visible progress is highly welcomed since it was set as one successful goals under National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) initiative.
The workshop also featured hands-on lectures, including a session delivered by Dr. Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Rizal, which provided practical strategies for enhancing publication quality. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the CACM speakers, with Dr. Eng. Ansarullah Lawi handing over a certificate to Prof. Dr. Mohd Yazid Yahya, and Dipl. Ing. Heri Sunarsono presenting one to Dr. Ts. Ahmad Ilyas Rushdan.
This initiative marks the third consecutive year in which CACM experts have been invited to ITEBA to share their expertise and strengthen academic culture. The continuity of these engagements reflects a deepening spirit of collaboration, showing that both institutions are committed not only to short-term gains but also to building a sustainable ecosystem of research and innovation. By consistently nurturing young researchers and guiding faculty members, CACM has played a pivotal role in helping ITEBA raise its visibility in the academic community.
The program concluded with renewed expressions of commitment to further strengthen research collaboration and publication culture at ITEBA. Both sides emphasised the importance of sustaining momentum through future projects, joint publications, and continuous knowledge exchange. In the evening, the delegation was treated to a seafood dinner featuring Batam’s signature dishes, where the warmth of hospitality matched the depth of academic friendship. The informal setting provided another layer of bonding, reinforcing the sense that collaboration between CACM and ITEBA is as much about human connection as it is about scholarly advancement.
