KUALA LUMPUR—The research team at the Process Systems Engineering Centre (PROSPECT) has been named one of the five finalists in the prestigious SEDA Innovation Challenge 2024. The announcement was made during a certificate-giving ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on August 21, 2024, the second day of the 6th International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES) 2024, at 12 p.m.
The project, titled ‘Monitoring Energy and Centralizing Automation (MERCAT)’, is led by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ho Wai Shin, with team members including Prof. Ir. Dr. Haslenda Hashim, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zarina Ab Muis, Dr. Nor Alafiza Yunus, Mr. Ho Xinyou, and Mr. Aaron Seak. The team has received high praise for their innovative approach to sustainable energy solutions.
The product utilizes Machine Learning and Optimization for detailed energy analytics and control, and is currently being commercialized through Unique Edge Technology Sdn. Bhd., a spin-off company of UTM.
