Pontian, 23 November 2023 – In a display of community engagement, Language Academy Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) staff, Nurhidayah Mohd Sharif and ‘Atiqah Shaharuddin, were invited to participate in the Children’s Day celebration at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Boh. This ceremony is meaningful since SK Sungai Boh is a synergy partner of the Language Academy UTM from the previous community service-learning programme, Toys for Friends (TFF).
This celebration was held to celebrate children with various fun activities, appreciate the contribution and role of children in school, give awareness to the community about the importance of children’s role in society, and give birth to children who excel spiritually and physically.
The day’s festivities kicked off at 7:30 a.m. with sports activities organized by Marrybrown for all 110 students, ranging from preschool to Year 6. The students displayed great sportsmanship and participated in friendly competition, which was evident from the smiles on their faces. At 9:00 a.m., the school transformed into a magical wonderland with a fashion show titled “Fictional Characters,” where the students donned imaginative costumes, bringing their favorite characters to life and spreading joy throughout the school. The teachers and parents also joined in on the fun, dressing up as fictional characters and adding to the festive atmosphere.
At 11 a.m., the closing ceremony of the celebration was held and was officiated by Tuan Haji Rahman bin Salleh, Chief Education Officer of Pontian District. The closing ceremony featured unforgettable performances by several teachers and students, including a magic show, traditional dance, and rope skipping. The celebration ended at 12:30 p.m.
Language Academy is grateful for the invitation and looks forward to future invitations. The day was a success, celebrating Children’s Day and strengthening the relationship between Language Academy, SK Sungai Boh, and the wider community.
