INATEX 2023 Celebrates Innovation and Academic Excellence

Kuala Lumpur, October 26th – The 25th Industrial Art & Technology Exhibition 2023 (INATEX 2023) in conjunction with UTM Nexus Expo 2023 (Nexpo 2023), held from October 25th to 26th at the Grand Banquet Hall, Residensi UTMKL, highlighted innovative projects by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) staff.

Organised by the Research Management Centre (RMC) under the theme “Elevating Communities and Strengthening Industries Through Innovation R&D,” the event emphasised collaborative efforts between UTM staff and industry partners, showcasing creative solutions with positive societal impact.

The competition covered various categories: Agriculture, Aquaculture & Environment, Biotechnology, Life science & Pure Science, Disaster Management, Entrepreneurship & Industrial Management, Health, Wellness & Wellbeing, Information Communication Technology and Multimedia and Manufacturing Technologies.

Adopting a collaborative, multidisciplinary, and innovative transformation approach to problem-solving aligns with UTM’s rebranded tagline, Innovating Solutions. Dr. Ezza Syuhada Sazali, the Chairman of INATEX 2023, emphasised that this program is a regular gathering and a crucial platform fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange and showcasing technological advancements.

The INATEX award ceremony began with a speech from Professor Dr. Zulkurnain Abd: Malek, Director of the Research Management Centre. Subsequently, the awards were presented by Professor Dr. Rosli Md. Illias, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation). Associate Professor Dr. Mukhlis A Rahman from the Faculty of Chemical & Energy Engineering secured the esteemed Best of the Best Award, surpassing 25 other participants. In addition to the prestigious accolade, he was granted a Research and Development (R&D) grant amounting to RM 50,000.00, a plaque and a certificate of recognition.

INATEX 2023 acknowledged Ts. ChM. Dr. Faizuan Abdullah from the Faculty of Science was granted the Special Award (Community) for his remarkable contribution to social innovation. Furthermore, Associate Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Khairi Abu Husain from the Razak Faculty of Technology & Informatics was honoured with the Special Award (Industry) for his notable achievements.

INATEX 2023 showcased UTM’s deep commitment to innovation, leaving a lasting impact on society. The knowledge exchange and collaboration platform can potentially drive significant advancements in academia and industry. By creating a space for researchers to share thoughts and gain new insights, INATEX 2023 contributes to advancing knowledge to address real-world challenges.
