IBD Partners With RIGST To Establish A Joint Research Laboratory For Technology Development In Bioprocess Industrialization Platform

JOHOR BAHRU- The Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) and Research Green Institute of Science and Technology (RIGST) have established a strategic partnership and held an opening ceremony of the “IBD UTM – RISGT, Shizuoka University Joint Laboratory” for “Bioprocess Industrialization Platform” on 26th September, 2019. Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi b. Ismail of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia officiated at the ceremony.

The IBD UTM and RIGST Shizuoka Joint Laboratory Bioprocess industrialization platform combine IBD’s strength bioprocessing optimization and production of bioactive metabolites in large scale and RIGST’s basic and applied research and production of bioactive molecules in little scale with an objective as a complimentary program for Engineering Development And Bioprocess Industrialization Platform (From Strain Development To Large Scale Production).

Professor Dr Hesham EL-Enshasy, Director and Chief Scientist of the IBD UTM – RIGST Shizuoka Joint Laboratory was delighted to partner with RIGST in advancing translational research activities. He said: “The establishment of this IBD UTM – RIGST Shizuoka Joint Laboratory will complete the research cycle and held the industrialization process and development in Malaysia”. The function of the Joint Lab is also to provide a platform for research and development collaboration, a center for training and scientific exchange, and an open platform for collaboration between two nations.”

“The synergistic partnership is complementary and mutually enhancing, creating a win-win formula for IBD UTM and RIGST and the industry in both countries. I receive each and every confidence that the Joint Laboratory will be a successful one with promising achievements to become a globe-leading center in the field of new bioprocess optimization and commercialization.” Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UTM remarked.
