JOHOR BAHRU, 22 May 2019 – UTMLead had conducted an academic leadership course entitled “The Academic Leadership: Duties, Responsibilities and Expectation” at Dewan Bankuet, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim. The half -day course consists of talk, sharing session and case studies presented by the UTM Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir. Prof Dr Wahid bin Omar.
The course was attended by 149 participants who were among the academic talent pool and academic administrators. Datuk VC elaborated on the importance of instituitional sustainability, the 21st leadership approach and the leadership 2050. Datuk VC mentioned the importance of academic leadership competencies to be groomed and nurtured among the successor . The participants were grouped to review a case study and the session was facilitated by Datuk VC himself with the assistance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaleha Abdullah (Director of Corporate Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr Narina A. Samah, Dr. Tan Sui Hong (Strategic Management Office), Prof. Hamdan Said (AHIBS) and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Sharifah Hafizah Sy Ariffin (UTMLead). Four representatives came forward to present their findings on the case study. All findings were posted online in the padlet.com. Participants gave good feedbacks on the course as the contents are relevant to the incumbent academic administrators as well as to the academic successors.
