The International Seminar on Global Issues (ISGI) 2019 organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 16 April 2019 in UTM Johor Bahru was a special platform for students and academicians to discuss global development and global issues.

School of Education, FSSH involved in SULAM project
A total of 26 students from the Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Purworejo and Sukabumi attended a teacher training program between 3 April 2019 and 28 april 2019 conducted by the School Education, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH). This was the first batch of teacher training ‘sit-in’ for the year 2019.
On 15 February 2019, UTM International along with UTM Global Buddies held a welcoming party for new exchange students and internship students. Dressed in the outfit that suitables with the theme, “Denim and Diamonds”, more than 50 NGS students come to the party. The party was held to welcome the new students as well as introduce them to malay culture. They also got to interact with their buddies through chit-chat, dancing, and games.
The 5th International Biotechnology Competition and Exhibition (IBCEx’19) which was held successfully on the last 5th and 6th April was organized by the Bioprocess Engineering Student Society (BIOSS) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). This annual event was held inside the UTM, Johor with the main objective is to provide a great opportunity for local and international undergraduates from various institutions to introduce their creative innovations and further enhance their knowledge in the field of biotechnology.
From 12-13 April 2019, FSSH lecturers and students worked hand-in-hand at the STEM Camporee program organized by SMK Tasek Utara to prepare STEM based activities for all scouts who attended the program.
On 22 February 2019, the first ever book review session was organized by UTM International. Among the books reviewed was a book authored by the Vice Chancellor of UTM, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid bin Omar, which was launched earlier this year. The book, titled “Memacu Kegemilangan – Pendidikan Tinggi Berpaksikan Kemanusiaan”, was reviewed by the moderator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Ariffin Abu Hassan.
On 16 March 2019, the 21st UTM International Culture Corner was held with the theme of “Traditional Games” at the Azman Hashim Stadium of UTM Johor Bahru. Over 150 students from various countries participated as both presenters and players. The students were split into teams. The event was split into 2 main activities; the first being an Explorace-like activity where various national ISS teams had booths where students can learn about and play some of the traditional games of each country, and the second being a more active Telethon-like event. The teams were split into several subgroups, each playing a different game in the Telethon. The event ended with a prize-giving ceremony as well as group photo taking.

On 28 February 2019, the 20th UTM International Culture Corner was held with the theme of “Fairytales”. Over 240 students from more than 24 countries participated in the event. Several cultural performances / reenactments were performed by 5 ISS teams, as well as a performance from the Malaysian team.
