Universiti Teknologi Malaysia-Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto Edu Tourism Program

Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto had conducted Edu Tourism Program on 22nd and 23rd January 2019. The participants were two lecturers and ten undergraduate students from the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerta (UMP) along with undergraduates and postgraduate students from UTM.

The program was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aisyah Abdul Rahman@Panatik, Chairman of the School of Human Resource and Psychology. This program, led by Dr. Najua Syuhada Ahmad Alhassora, was specifically aimed at providing opportunities to the students and lecturers to present their research projects and encourage both critiques and feedbacks through the colloquium sessions. A total number of 11 papers were presented on psychology, education and service learning.

A keynote session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Yeo Kee Jiar on the topic “Development of Basic Vocational Training for Students with Special Needs” and Dra. Tri Nai’mah presented a topic  on “Multicultural Education Design in Indonesia”.

Two workshops were also conducted during the two-days programme. The first workshop was on the “e-Mental Health and the Role of Technology for Psychosocial Assessment and Interventions” by Dr. Wan Mohd Azam Wan Mohd Yunos and the second workshop was on “Using Emotional Intelligence to Achieve Peak Performance” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Aisyah Abdul Rahman@Panatik and Dr. Norashikin Mahmud.

Mr. Herdian, a lecturer from UMP, mentioned that this program aligned with the objective of the Faculty of Psychology, UMP which is to provide students with educational experience  abroad as well as extensive insights into the Science of Psychology. He also mentioned that this program is beneficial to both students and lecturers and hoped this program will continue in the future involving more participants and more academic activities.
