JOHOR BAHRU, 6 September 2016 – A total of 20 first batch graduates of the SME @ UTM 2016 programme has successfully completed a course of entrepreneurial training and received their certificates.
All the graduates received their certificates from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Dr. Azlan Abdul Rahman at 2016 Graduation Ceremony of UTM@SME which took place in Victoria Grand Ballroom, V8 Hotel, Skudai.
Director of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Technology Entrepreneurship Centre (UTMTEC), Prof. Dr. Kamariah Ismail said the UTM@SME was an entrepreneurial training programme that designed for Chief Executives Officers (CEO) of companies organized by SME Corporation in collaboration with UTM and placed under the coordination of UTMTEC.
“The main goal of this programme was to provide a platform for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs to improve their knowledge and entrepreneurial skills through structured learning processes provided by UTM and its industrial partners.
“There are nine modules delivered intensively to 20 entrepreneurs engaged in this programme. Interestingly, a special module has been developed by the coordinator with the emphasis on technology entrepreneurship concept Design Thinking to the participants, ” said Prof. Kamariah.
Also attending the ceremony were Deputy Director of Business Development SME Corporation Malaysia, Amrul Nazri and General Manager of SME Services, Tinah Anak Jarome.
UTM has implemented a smart partnership with many high-profile Malaysian stakeholders in the field of entrepreneurship development such as Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), MTDC (Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation) and the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) and other agencies.
