RMC launch the online portal to increase efficiency in paying research claims

JOHOR BAHRU, 10 August 2016 –  The Research Management Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (RMCUTM) has launched an online portal to enhance efficiency and reduce paper consumption.
The Online Claim and Payment Module was launched by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar at the monthly assembly that was held at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Johor Bahru campus.
RMC Manager of Information Technology, Dr. Noorminshah A.Iahad said the module is one of the sub-modules in the Research and Development Information System.
“The main goal of the development of this module is to enable researchers to process claim payments without the need to physically present themselves at the front counter of the RMC.
“This module was first designed and developed in January 2015. Beginning October 1st, 2015, the trial was conducted and a total of 113 claims which involved 63 researchers were successfully processed,” she said.
The success of this trial has enabled this module to process more research claims in January 2016.
“As of July 31, 2016, a total of 3,142 claims were processed with an average payment period for payment completed being 6 to 8 days compared to 14 working days if done manually,” he said.
In addition to saving time, this module also has managed to reduce paper usage of up to 15,000 A4 sheets during the trial period.
“Due to the good reception among researchers and its effectiveness in reducing costs, the utilization of this module will be fully implemented on August 15, 2016,” she said.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor during its launching ceremony was the Director of RMC, Prof. Dr. Ruzairi Abdul Rahim.
