JOHOR BAHRU, 15 September 2015 – A UTM third year Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical- Aeronautics) student, Jason Ang Wei Lung has been selected as the recipient of the Emerging Scholar Award from the Golden Key International Honor Society, which comes with a USD2,500 Golden Key scholarship.
This award recognizes outstanding sophomores who have made a difference in their chapter with the emphasis placed on how the student exemplifies Golden Key’s pillars of academics, leadership and service.
Jason Ang is currently the Vice President of Golden Key International Honor Society of UTM Student Chapter in Malaysia. He is also  an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society and an alumnus of the Malaysian Student Volunteers Foundation.
From 23rd June to 1st of July 2015, Jason and two other Golden Key UTM Chapter members volunteered in a Global Community Outreach Programme at Layog Country farm in Philippines.
This project is part of the Golden Key “Spark a Change” Project where volunteers helped to build a sustainable country farm.
Despite his busy extra curricular activities, Jason continues to excel in academics, as evident from him receiving the Dean’s List Award consecutively for 4 academic semesters.
The Golden Key International Honor Society (formerly Golden Key National Honor Society) is an Atlanta, Georgia-based non-profit organization founded in 1977 to recognize academic achievement among college and university students in all disciplines.
Golden Key has over 400 chapters at colleges and universities in eight countries, namely, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, The Bahamas and the United States.
Membership into Golden Key is offered to undergraduate and graduate students recognized to be among the top 15% of their class, either by overall grade performance or by an alternative standard approved by Golden Key’s International Leadership Council.
