JOHOR BAHRU, 3 September 2015 – Prof Baharuddin Aris from UTM Faculty of Education was invited to speak at an International Conference 2015 in conjunction with to ”Dies Natalies 54th Universitas Negeri Makassar” conference. The conference was organized by Universitas Negeri Makassar and was held on 20 August 2015 in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

The conference was officiated by Prof Muhammad Nasir, the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education. In his opening speech, the Minister stressed on the importance of human capital development and research & innovation. The gist of his speech was reflected in Prof Baharuddin Aris’s presentation on “Character Building Through NALI & NA-RIPENS”.

Dr Mahyuddin Arsat, another key presenter, spoke on Sustainability Education entitled “Empowering Character Education through Sustainabiity Thinking in Engineering”. Both Prof Baharuddin Aris and Dr Mahyuddin Arsat also gave a public lecture on using technology in learning & teaching in Unismuh Makassar.

The impact of these academic activities include  collaborative research, co-organization of conferences, joint publication in journals and more academic staff & university students mobility especially from South Sulawesi.
