NUSAJAYA, 3 June 2015 – A strategic partnership has been forged between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Johor State Government to allow a total of 25 State Administrative Officers to pursue postgraduate studies at UTM.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of UTM, Prof. Ir. Datuk Dr. Wahid Omar and the State Secretary of Johor, Dato ‘Haji Ismail Karim at the Main Meeting Room, Bangunan Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad, Kota Iskandar.
Witnessing the signing ceremony was the Chief Minister of Johor, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Dato’ Seri Khaled said that the programme was carried out in the spirit of lifelong learning in addition to achieving the set target of having at least 50 per cent of the Johor State Administration Officers with a Master Degree.
“Following the MoU, the State Government will be sending a total of 25 State Administrative Officers to pursue their MSc in UTM. This initiative will produce qualified civil servants which will further strengthen Johor.”
Towards this endeavor, the Johor State government has allocated RM874,000.00 in its 2015 Budget.
Dato’ Seri Khaled has expressed the hope that the UTM-Johor State Government collaboration will result in highly skilled civil servants in their respective fields.
