PUTRAJAYA, 6 April 2015 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) rowing teams excelled when they emerged as champions in the Men Rowing and Women Kayak events at the Malaysian University Sports Council (MASUM) Water Sports Carnival 2015 held at the Water Sports Complex in Putrajaya.
The UTM Men’s Rowing team emerged as the First Place winner with a collection of 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, while Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) is in second place with two gold and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) came in third place with 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
UTM first Gold medal was contributed by the Coxless Four men team. The second gold medal was contributed through the Men Lightweight Double Sculls event.
The UTM Women’s Kayak team also showed their prowess when they came in first by scoring 2 Gold and 1 Silver medals while Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was second with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals. UTHM was third with 1 Gold.
Overall, 12 rowing events, involving 20 teams participated at the 2015 MASUM Water Sports Carnival.
