JOHOR BAHRU, Apr 7 – Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), in collaboration with UTM Career Centre (UTMCC), successfully hosted the Huawei Connected Campus 2026, an initiative aimed at empowering students with industry exposure, emerging technology insights, and future-ready career pathways. The event brought together students, faculty members, and industry leaders in a full-day engagement centred on digital innovation and talent development.


Huawei Connected Campus reflects Huawei’s longstanding collaboration with UTM in nurturing talent and strengthening academia–industry partnerships. Over the years, Huawei has supported UTM through knowledge sharing, talent development initiatives, and career opportunities, reinforcing a shared commitment to producing graduates equipped for the evolving global tech ecosystem. This collaboration aligns with UTM’s vision of fostering industry-relevant education and innovation-driven learning.

The programme featured a series of engaging activities throughout the day, including a career exhibition and game sessions, alongside on-site interviews and Human Resources (HR) consultations, providing students with direct access to industry engagement and employment opportunities. The highlight of the programme was the Career Talk and Alumni Connect session, which brought together more than 250 students from multiple faculties. Participants also enjoyed networking opportunities, exclusive door gifts, and an exciting lucky draw segment, contributing to a lively and interactive atmosphere.


The session was officiated by Mathumohan Janasikar, Director of Huawei Malaysia RAN Project, whose presence underscored Huawei’s commitment to talent development and strong industry–academia collaboration. In his address, he emphasised the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and aligning technical knowledge with real-world applications in an increasingly digital and connected landscape.

The Alumni Connect segment featured Lai Chee Yee, a UTM Faculty of Computing alumnus and currently a Global Technical Delivery Engineer at Huawei Malaysia GSRC. His sharing provided practical insights into transitioning from university to industry, highlighting the importance of technical competency, effective communication, and a proactive mindset in navigating early career challenges. His journey offered students a relatable perspective on entering the workforce and building a career in the global technology sector.

Beyond the event, the programme also opened avenues for future collaboration between Huawei and UTM. Discussions are underway to explore initiatives such as structured internship pipelines, industry-led workshops, and continued engagement through guest lectures and talent development programmes. These efforts aim to further strengthen the bridge between academia and industry, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the digital future.
