JOHOR BAHRU, 29 April 2015 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has forged a strategic collaboration with the Johor Bahru Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCCI) to meet the needs of commercialising UTM Research and Development (R&D) product particularly in terms of sustainable entrepreneurship.
The collaboration between the two parties will involve many areas including consulting, R&D, training and other related activities.
This collaboration is a result of a prior official visit of JBCCCI to the Innovation and Commercialization Center (ICC) in 2014, which generated several discussions in identifying the scope of collaboration.
The collaboration was made official via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Datuk Ir Dr Wahid Omar representing UTM, and Dato’ Loh Liam Hiang who is JBCCCI president, representing JBCCCI.
The historic ceremony was held in Johor PERSADA and attended by the Johor Menteri Besar, YAB Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
It is believed that this cooperation will contribute to enhancing UTM’s entrepreneurship initiatives.
