JOHOR BAHRU, 21 January 2014: Professor Dr Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for a period of three years commencing January 16, 2015.
He was the Dean of Research of the Materials and Manufacturing Research Alliance, UTM. Throughout his illustrious career, he has made significant contributions to research and innovation, illustrated through his numerous multi-national and international awards, including the prestigious Merdeka Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement 2014, IChemE Malaysia Inventor Award 2014 conferred by IChemE United Kingdom, ASEAN Young Scientist and Technologist Award 2001, Anugerah Muda Negara 2000, National Academic Award for the category of Product Innovation and Commercialisation 2013, National Innovation Award, won twice, in 2009 and 2011respectively, National Intellectual Property Award, also won twice, in 2013 and 2012 respectively, and the Toray Science and Technology Foundation Award 2013.
Professor Dr Ahmad Fauzi bin Ismail holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from UTM. He subsequently obtained his doctoral (PhD) degree in Chemical and Process Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom.
He is the founder and Director of UTM Advanced Membrane Technology Research Center (AMTEC).
He has been appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) effective on 16th January 2015, taking over from Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd. Azraai bin Kassim who completed his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) on 15 January.
Professor Dr Ahmad Fauzi has published 2 books, 25 book chapters, 350 papers in high impact journals with more than 5000 citations and h-index of 37. He is the owner and principal investigator of 2 international patents and 3 national patents.
