LONDON, 6 November 2014 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) researchers, from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, led by Assoc. Prof Dr Haslenda Hashim have been awarded the Highly Commended Award at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (ICHemE) Global Awards 2014 which was held in London, United Kingdom (UK).
Assoc. Prof. Haslenda received the award from the IChemE President, Professor Geoff Maitland at Cheltenham Racecourse in London. The winning project entitled ‘Integrated Distributed Energy Application Software’ (IDEAS)’won under the category of Sustainable Technology Award.
The champiom for this category was Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies from UK with their product, ‘Biodiesel from waste oils’ while the other Highly Commended Award recipient was the Xiamen Institute of Rare Earth Materials from China with its invention, ‘Sustainable and Efficient Rare Earth Separation’.
This Award is proof of UTM’s excellence, innovation and achievement in the field of chemical and process engineering and has further elevated and strengthened UTM’s position both nationally and internationally.
