Software Engineering Symposium ’21 or better known as SESSYM ’21 was a program organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA) on March 30th, 2021. The program was streamed online through PERSAKA Facebook Live.

An expert speaker from School of Computing who is also a lecturer, Ts. Dr. Johanna Binti Ahmad was invited to share her experience and insights on working as a software engineer in the industry including her research experience during Master and PhD.

Among the topics that were shared during the program was the experience working as a software engineer in the industry in different department and company as a trainee and officer. Dr. Johanna also shared her Master and PhD journey at Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Through this program, Dr. Johanna also touched upon the career opportunity for recent graduates in Software Engineering field that can be explored in different field that are related such as business, design, networking and many more. She also provided SESYM’21 audiences with information on the future in Software Engineering and the required skills they should further master and develop.

Since the program was held virtually, the audiences were able to leave their questions during Q&A session in the comment section of the Facebook Live.

Last but not least, the Advisor of PERSAKA, Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Tariq Bin Idris, was invited to give a closing speech for SESYM‘21. All in all, SESYM’21 was considered successful and wrapped up smoothly with 265 participants which exceeded the target views of 100 participants.
