UTTAR PRADESH, Jan. 4 – The signing of the Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Sharda School of Basic Sciences & Research (SBSR) at Sharda University in India and the Faculty of Science at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) during the prestigious ICSEM-2025 marks a significant advancement in international academic collaboration. This partnership embodies the shared vision of both institutions to promote global academic excellence, sustainability, and innovative research.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) establishes a comprehensive framework to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutions. Key areas of collaboration include joint research activities, student and faculty exchange programs, visiting professorships, and the sharing of academic resources. Both institutions have expressed their commitment to sustainable development, a recurring theme at ICSEM-2025. They aim to align their research priorities with global challenges such as energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and advanced material technologies. This agreement is founded on mutual respect, reciprocity, and a shared dedication to fostering innovation in science and education.
The 5th International Conference on Science and Engineering of Materials (ICSEM-2025) took place from January 4th to 7th, 2025, at Sharda University. This event provided an excellent platform to formalize collaboration between participants.
The conference began with an inspiring inauguration ceremony featuring distinguished speakers, including Prof. S.K. Banerjee, Dean of the School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBSR), and Prof. Sibaram Khara, Vice-Chancellor of Sharda University, along with other esteemed Guests of Honour. Delegates from 12 Malaysian universities, representatives from 15 Indian states, and participants from around the globe underscored the international importance of this gathering.
The conference theme, which focused on cutting-edge areas such as sustainable materials, polymer electrolytes, nanotechnology, and advanced energy solutions, aligned perfectly with the objectives of the Sharda-UTM collaboration. Plenary and invited talks by experts, including Prof. Maria Manuela Silva from Portugal, offered valuable insights into groundbreaking research. The conference also featured parallel sessions chaired by prominent scientists, encouraging discussions on innovations in material science. A researcher from the Faculty of Science at UTM participated as one of the invited speakers during the first day of the conference.
The ICSEM-2025 event not only demonstrated the academic strength of Sharda SBSR and UTM but also emphasized the significance of cross-border collaboration in tackling global challenges. The signing of the Letter of Intent (LoI) represented both a symbolic and practical commitment to knowledge sharing and joint problem-solving. Plans are in place to turn these goals into actionable projects with meaningful outcomes.
This partnership signifies a crucial step for both institutions toward global leadership in research and education. It aims to establish pathways for transformative innovation, benefiting the academic, scientific, and industrial sectors of both nations.
