UTM Forges Strategic Partnership with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, China

In a momentous occasion on December 14, 2023, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) solidified their commitment to academic collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The signing ceremony, attended by esteemed dignitaries including Professor Dr. Que Shandong, Vice President of JUFE, and senior officials from both institutions, marked the commencement of a significant partnership.

This strategic alliance between UTM and JUFE aims to strengthen academic ties, particularly focusing on key fields such as computing, cybersecurity, business intelligence and analytics, engineering business management, and industrial design. In the rapidly evolving landscape of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and Artificial Intelligence, this collaboration is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation and competitiveness crucial for global progress.

As part of this collaboration, UTM and JUFE unveiled the launch of their Postgraduate Study program, scheduled to commence with the first group in 2024. Led by the Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics (FTIR) at the UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus, this academic initiative will offer six diverse programs, including Master of Science in Information Security Assurance, Master of Science in Computer System Engineering, Master of Science (Business Intelligence and Analytics), Master of Science (Engineering Business Management), Master of Philosophy (Industrial Design), and Doctor of Philosophy.

The introduction of these programs signifies a transformative shift in the academic environment, geared towards nurturing the abilities and talents of future pioneers and thought leaders. This collaboration is expected to pave the way for a host of initiatives, encompassing collaborative research, the exchange of innovative teaching methodologies, and mutual lab visits. Such endeavors present a valuable opportunity for faculties and students from UTM and JUFE to engage in a vibrant exchange of ideas, further enriching the academic experience for both institutions.

Professor Dr. Shafry Rahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts involved in orchestrating this partnership. He particularly acknowledged the distinguished presence of Professor Dr. Que Shandong and representatives from JUFE, highlighting the collaborative potential in transforming academic and research knowledge into tangible benefits for the community, industry, and nation. The initiation of this collaboration holds the promise of a brighter future for both UTM and JUFE, contributing significantly to the global academic landscape and fostering the development of innovative solutions to the world’s challenges.
