KELANA JAYA – The Deputy Dean, Academician and Researcher from the Faculty of Engineering of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Prof. Dr Sevia Mahdaliza Idrus was invited to deliver a talk at Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) 2019 Safety Day launching ceremony on 28 August 2019.
The programme was held at the Malaysia Airlines Academy Auditorium, Kelana Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan. The title of the talk was ‘ Recent Development on Automatic Foreign Objects Debris Detection System (FODDS) for Airport Surveillance and Safety’.
Prof. Sevia who was met after the talk said that this was a golden opportunity to share some valuable information since the programme was attended by more than a thousand staff from Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG) subsidiaries companies.
“The forum was attended by personnel from Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Firefly, MASwings, MASKargo and other MAG’s subsidiaries including Association of Asia Pacific Airlines, Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology and Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad.
“Several exhibition booths from all MAG subsidiaries were also on display at the lobby of the academy,” said Prof. Sevia.
Carrying the theme of ‘Facing Future Challenges Together’, the MAG 2019 Safety Day programme was held with several objectives such as to recognize safety leadership and responsibilities and to encourage safety awareness and safety accountability.
Meanwhile, the MAG Head of Corporate Safety Oversight (CSO), Brig. Gen. (R) Dato’ Dr. Razin Kamarulzaman thanked Prof. Sevia for sharing such valuable information about aviation safety in the programme.
“On behalf of the Malaysia Aviation Group and Organizing Committee of the 2019 MAG Safety Week, I wish to thank Prof. Sevia for her time and effort sharing her knowledge on FODDS.
“You and your teams’ presence showed your commitment toward aviation safety. Malaysia Airlines is proud to be associated with our homegrown R&D team which is led by you. We hope to continue to be working with you in the foreseeable future,” said Dato’ Razin.
Among the key personnel who attended the talk were the Director-General of Asia Pacific Airlines Association, Mr Andrew Herdman, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MAG, Captain Izham Ismail, Head of CSO of Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Dato’ Captain Missman Leham, CEO AeroDarat, Mohd. Nadziruddin Mohd. Basri and CEO MASWings, Aminuddin Zakaria.
