Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) proudly honors one of its most inspiring alumni, Dr. Sofiazianti Saleh. She is a dedicated educator, a courageous leader, and a pioneering figure in the field of educational psychology. Dr. Sofiazianti’s journey is more than just a tale of academic achievement; it serves as a powerful example of how purpose, passion, and perseverance can bring about meaningful change.
From Student to Changemaker
Dr. Sofiazianti’s academic journey began at UTM, where she pursued her postgraduate studies in education. This decision ignited a lifelong commitment to transforming lives through learning. While at UTM, she was more than just a student; she was a dynamic force for change.
Dr. Sofiazianti has demonstrated her leadership abilities through various roles, including her position as the leader of the Postgraduate Students Society (PGSS) for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities during the 2019/2020 academic year. Currently, she serves as the Public Relations Executive Committee member for PGSS UTM and as the President of the UTM Toastmasters Club for the 2023/2024 year.
Her outstanding contributions have earned her three prestigious awards at the Anugerah Gemilang Mahasiswa (GEMA) 2020, which include the Best Association Leader Award, the Best Association Award, and the Individual Special Appreciation Award. Additionally, she was recognized as the “Best Speaker” at the ASIA International Multi-disciplinary Conference (AIMC) 2020.
A Voice for Growth, Grit, and Education
After completing her doctoral degree, Dr. Sofiazianti immersed herself in research, focusing on topics she is passionate about, including motivation, grit, personal development, growth mindset, and academic performance. Her work has gained international recognition through published papers and presentations at global conferences.
Since 2020, she has served as the Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of the Liberal Arts and Social Studies International Journal (LAASSIJ). She is also the current Ambassador of Connecting ASIA, further amplifying her influence in academic and leadership circles.
Building Empires While Empowering Others
Dr. Sofiazianti didn’t wait to graduate before becoming a changemaker. In 2012, she founded Pusat Tuisyen Fokus Bestari, a successful tuition center that earned her the Best Entrepreneur Award 2024 under the PERANTIS-SPACE Entrepreneur Program.
She is also the co-founder of SAS Extreme Training and Consultancy, a platform dedicated to educating and empowering students, educators, and professionals in both government and corporate sectors through training and leadership programs. Her workshops are renowned for their real-world relevance, motivational approach, and ability to inspire personal transformation.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Dr. Sofiazianti currently collaborates with national and international schools to implement dynamic training programs centered on leadership, motivation, and a growth mindset. She maintains a strong connection with UTM, frequently returning as a guest speaker, mentor, and trainer, inspiring future graduates to dream bigger and lead with integrity.
“UTM gave me more than just a degree, it gave me the courage to lead, innovate, and serve. I’m forever grateful to my supervisors, mentors, lecturers, peers, and the UTM community who shaped me into who I am today,” she reflects.
