UTM Boosts Qatar Ties: Global Collaboration in Education

In a proactive move to enhance educational ties and promote Malaysian education abroad, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) embarked on a comprehensive outreach program across Qatar involving the representative from Student Recruitment & Admission Division (SRAD) and School of Graduate Studies (SPS) engaging with secondary school students and educational stakeholders alike. Over the course of five days, UTM’s endeavors exemplified a commitment to fostering global collaboration and showcasing the excellence of Malaysian education.

Day One and Two: Reaching Secondary School Students

UTM kicked off its outreach program by visiting prominent secondary schools in Qatar, including Pakistan International School Qatar, Al Khor International School BC Secondary, The Next Generation School – Wakra Secondary Campus, and Bangladesh Mashoor-ul-Haque Memorial High School. Through interactive sessions and presentations, UTM aimed to introduce Malaysian education to secondary school students, highlighting the diverse opportunities and academic programs available at UTM. These engagements not only aimed to inspire students but also fostered a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm towards pursuing higher education in Malaysia.

Day Three and Four: Yes2Malaysia Education Malaysia Info Day

UTM’s commitment to promoting Malaysian education continued as they participated in the Yes2Malaysia Education Malaysia Info Day 2024, a flagship event aimed at showcasing the educational offerings of Malaysia to international students. This event provided a platform for UTM to interact with prospective students and provide them with insights into the academic programs, scholarships, and cultural experiences awaiting them in Malaysia. Additionally, UTM had the privilege of meeting with the Ambassador of Malaysia to Qatar, His Excellency Zamshari Shaharan, at the City Centre Rotana Doha, further strengthening diplomatic ties and reaffirming the commitment to educational collaboration between Malaysia and Qatar.

Day Five: Collaborative Discussions with University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST)

The culminating event of UTM’s visit to Qatar was a strategic meeting with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST). This meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities between the two institutions, with discussions revolving around co-supervision initiatives, staff mobility programs, and research assistant recruitments within UDST. By fostering collaboration in research and academia, UTM and UDST aim to leverage each other’s strengths and resources to drive innovation and academic excellence.
