JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 17 – In 2014, Siti Noraisikin Mohd Jazuli faced one of the most challenging moments of her life. After beginning her master’s studies, personal circumstances forced her to step away after only two semesters. The experience left her feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and uncertain about the future. It was a moment that could have marked the end of her academic dreams.

After stepping away, Siti Noraisikin devoted herself entirely to her family and her work. She poured her energy into raising her eight children, managing her growing responsibilities, and leading her community initiatives. Yet quietly, a small thought lingered in her mind; the desire to continue her studies. It remained like a seed, waiting patiently for the right moment to bloom.

By early 2024, that moment arrived. The idea of returning to university began to grow stronger, gently at first, then impossible to ignore. Perhaps it was fate or divine timing, but the desire to resume her master’s studies emerged shortly after her eldest daughter completed the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM). With the encouragement and support of her husband and children, Siti Noraisikin made a bold decision: to reclaim the dream she had once put aside.

On 17 March 2024, her 42nd birthday, she attended her first class as a master’s student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). It was not just a continuation of her studies, yet it was a personal rebirth, a moment of courage, faith, and self-determination.

Her decision to return to university was not just a personal milestone, but it was also a reflection of the resilience and leadership she had cultivated over the years. While pursuing her academic goals, Siti Noraisikin had already built an impressive legacy, balancing family life with professional and community responsibilities.

It is the same dedication and drive that led her to establish IndeBrain Occupational Therapy Solutions, a rehabilitation centre dedicated to supporting neurodivergent children from infancy to twelve years old. As the founder and Clinical Director, she ensures that every child receives comprehensive care while also mentoring her team to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and compassion.

She also serves as President of Persatuan Kanak-kanak Autistik Islam Johor Bahru (PKAIJB), working closely with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government agencies, and community organisations to raise awareness, promote understanding, and foster inclusivity for the neurodivergent community. Additionally, as a certified trainer and speaker, she has shared her expertise across Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak, covering topics such as child development, rehabilitation, parenting, and mental health.

Balancing her studies with her many responsibilities required extraordinary effort, yet she drew immense strength from her family, especially her eldest daughter. When she returned to the classroom, her daughter encouraged her with words that stayed with her:

“Go for it, Ibu! Maybe we can graduate together, insya-Allah.”

Their journeys intertwined; she began her master’s as her daughter started foundation studies, and then graduated as her daughter began her degree, and received her PhD offer letter alongside her daughter’s promise:

“Insya-Allah, I’ll finish my degree, and you’ll get your doctorate, Ibu.”

These words were humbling and inspiring, a reminder that perseverance and timing often align in ways we cannot foresee. Her story is a testament to resilience, faith, and courage. She reminds everyone that while money can buy comfort, knowledge grants purpose, direction, and a lasting legacy.

The journey of Siti Noraisikin Mohd Jazuli is more than just an academic achievement; it is a story of hope, strength, and the courage to rewrite one’s destiny.
