UTM International Leads CSR Beach Clean-Up at Tanjung Balau, Desaru, Johor

Desaru, 30 Oct. – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), through UTM International, had successfully organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program at Tanjung Balau Beach, Desaru, on 30th October 2025. The initiative brought together various partners, including the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR), KEJORA, and Zinpac Enterprise Sdn. Bhd, Tiya Bina Sdn. Bhd and Kiara Kilat Sdn. Bhd, demonstrating the strong multi-agency support for environmental preservation. The collective effort focused on reducing marine pollution, enhancing public environmental awareness, and restoring the natural beauty of the coastal landscape.

A notable highlight of the event was the participation of 22 students and staff from Universitas PGRI Semarang (UPGRIS), who actively contributed to the beach cleanup activities. Their involvement reflected strong cross-border collaboration, enriching the initiative with meaningful student engagement and volunteerism. In addition, UPGRIS delivered a special knowledge-sharing session on disaster management, introducing research-based innovation in the form of paving blocks produced through their own studies. This presentation underscored the important link between community awareness, sustainability, and technological advancement.

The program made a lasting impact, as it successfully united academic institutions, government agencies, and private companies in a shared mission to support environmental sustainability. Through hands-on cleanup activities and knowledge exchange on disaster mitigation, the initiative strengthened community resilience and fostered greater appreciation of environmental conservation. UTM International’s leadership in this collaborative effort highlights the university’s commitment to nurturing global networks while advancing sustainable development for the benefit of local communities.
